Urgent - Trump's Nominees

Supreme Court: Neil Gorsuch
Yesterday, Trump announced his nominee for Supreme Court, Neil Gorsuch. Gorsuch is a right-wing extremist with a record of being anti-choice and supporting big businesses. Here are some ways that you can help fight his confirmation.
  1. Call your members of Congress. Use one of the following links to call your members of Congress and tell them to oppose Gorsuch:
    From Stand Up America: http://act.standupamerica.com/page/content/SCOTUS-announcement-call/
    From the Loyal Opposition: https://www.theloyalopposition.net/daily-ctas/daily-call-to-action-february-1st-2017/#script
    From Freepress: http://act.freepress.net/call/trump_scotus_no_way/

Alternately, you can use this link to find your elected officials, then use one of the scripts below: http://act.commoncause.org/site/PageServer?pagename=sunlight_advocacy_list_page
    • I’m [NAME], a constituent from [CITY]. I want [SENATOR X] to do everything in his/her power to keep Neil Gorsuch off the Supreme Court. I believe this seat was stolen, and I think that confirming Gorsuch only invites that kind of action in the future. Will [SENATOR X] agree to filibuster the nomination?
    • My name is _____. I am a constituent and I live in ___ city. I don't believe that Judge Gorsuch should be confirmed and am asking Sen. ___ to join the Democratic filibuster of Donald Trump's nomination, and 3) I would like to be able to tell my __ (number) friends from our state on my Facebook/Instagram/Twitter networks that Sen. ____ will join Senator Warren, Senator Merkley and others in filibustering the nomination. Will Sen. ___ join the Democratic filibuster?
    • For Republican Senators:
My name is [your name], and I'm a constituent of [Senator]. I'm calling to tell the Senator this: I haven't forgotten that [you, or your party if it's a new Senator] stole a Supreme Court seat from President Obama. You blocked Obama before he even had a nominee, and then blocked Merrick Garland's nomination for 293 days. I want you to know I'll do everything in my power to pressure Senate Democrats to give Trump's nominee the same consideration you gave President Obama's.
    • For Democratic Senators:
My name is [your name], and I'm a constituent of [Senator]. I'm calling with a very simple message for the Senator: the GOP stole a Supreme Court seat that belonged to President Obama, and I want you to do anything in your power to delay, obstruct, and stop Donald Trump's nominee from being confirmed. We have not forgotten the GOP's dirty tricks--they sat on Merrick Garland's nomination for 293 days. You can't forget either: you should wait at least 293 days before considering a nominee of Trump's.

Steve Bannon
Trump recently seated right-wing white nationalist, Steve Bannon, on the National Security Council, while downgrading the standing of our military and intelligence leaders. Here are some ways that you can help stop Bannon.
  1. Call your representatives. Use the following link to find your members of Congress, then call them using the script below: https://www.callmycongress.com/

Use this form to call your senators and tell them to oppose Puzder: https://actionnetwork.org/forms/call-to-tell-your-senator-to-oppose-andrew-puzder-for-labor-secretary

  3. Rex Tillerson: Today, the Senate confirmed former ExxonMobil CEO, Rex Tillerson, for Secretary of State. Eight swing senators, Rubio, Heitkamp, Manchin, McCain, Warner, King, and Collins, could have blocked Tillerson, but they voted to approve him. Then, use the script below to tell them to oppose Price:

Hello, I am [NAME] from [PLACE]. Like many of your constituents, I’m really concerned about the Price nomination for Health and Human Services. Will the Senator pledge to publicly oppose, and vote against, the Price nomination?

  5. Steve Mnuchin: The vote on Steve Mnuchin to lead the Treasury was delayed after a Democrat boycott, but this morning, Committee Chair Hatch suspended the rules and approved the nominees without Democratic votes. Then, use the script below to tell them to oppose Mnuchin:

Hello, I am [NAME] from [PLACE]. I’m calling about Steve Mnuchin’s nomination for Treasury. Will the Senator pledge to publicly oppose, and vote against, the Mnuchin nomination?
Immigration

Muslim Ban
Many senators have openly opposed Trump's unconstitutional Muslim ban, several judges have filed injunctions against the ban, and some US cities and states have filed lawsuits against Trump in response to the ban, but Trump has still not rescinded it. The Environment

Dakota Access Pipeline
Last week, Trump issued an executive memorandum fast-tracking the Dakota Access pipeline. An environmental review of the pipeline is still underway. The Army Corps of Engineers is currently inviting comments from the public until February 20th, but the Trump administration and the pipeline company, Energy Transfer Partners, have made it clear that they are determined to push through the Dakota Access pipeline no matter what, and the Army Corps could shut down the public comment period as early as next week. Here are some ways that you can help delay construction of the pipeline.
  1. Email the Army Corps of Engineers. Use this form to email the Army Corps of Engineers and tell them to conduct a full review of the DAPL: https://secure.nrdconline.org/site/Advocacy;jsessionid=00000000.app30101a?cmd=display&page=UserAction&id=4159

  2. Email your representatives. Use this form to email your representatives in the House and the Senate and tell them that you oppose the fast-tracking of the DAPL: http://lakotalaw.org/dapl-action
Regulations
Anti-environmentalists in the Senate have quickly moved to undo two key protections: the Stream Protection Rule, a commonsense clean-water regulation, and the BLM Methane and Waste Prevention Rule, which would make our air cleaner by requiring oil and gas operators to reduce wasteful pollution. Here's how you can help stop these attacks on health and environmental protections.
  1. Call your senators. Use this form to call your senators and tell them to vote against any efforst to use undermine these regulations: https://secure.earthjustice.org/site/SPageNavigator/CongressionalReviewAct;jsessionid=00000000.app312b
Trump's Ties to Russia

On Saturday, Trump had a "positive call" with Russian President Vladimir Putin, during which the two promised to cooperate on destroying ISIS in Syria, and repair US and Russian relations. The Kremlin’s statement said that the two spoke about the "Ukraine Crisis" and repairing economic relationships, suggesting that Trump said that he would be open to lifting sanctions against Russia. Nobody outside of the White House is calling for lifting sanctions. Russian cyberattacks during our elections and the Senate Intel panel probe on Trump's ties to Russia were not on the agenda. A few members of Congress have called for investigations into Trump's Russian ties. Here's how you can help support them.
  1. Maxine Waters: Yesterday, Congresswoman Maxine Waters, Ranking Member of the House Financial Services Committee, introduced legislation demanding congressional investigations of Trump's Russian ties and the cyberattacks. Find your members of Congress at the following link, then use the script below to call them and tell them to support Waters's legislation: https://www.callmycongress.com/

I’m [FIRST & LAST NAME], a constituent calling to ask [REP. — — — ] to strongly support an investigation into Russian interference in our elections. Please ask [REP. — — — ] to support Congresswoman Waters’ new legislation to investigate the President’s ties to Russia.

  2. Dick Durbin: This week, Senator Dick Durbin called for an independent commission to investigate the Russian cyberattacks. Sign this petition to support Durbin's commission: http://action.dickdurbin.com/page/s/acq-russian-involvement
